According to the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP), which cites industry sources, petrol should be two cents cheaper, while diesel is to remain the same.
"If the forecasts for next week are confirmed, the average price of diesel should remain at 1.571 euros per litre, while that of 95% petrol will fall to 1.669 euros per litre", says the ACP.
This is because, currently, the average price per litre of diesel in Portugal is 1.571 euros and that of petrol is 1.689 euros, according to the Directorate General of Energy and Geology (DGEG).
The ACP notes that the forecasts "are made based on the assumption that the extraordinary tax reduction measures implemented by the Government to mitigate the price increase will be maintained".
"The measures in force include the reduction of the ISP (which is equivalent to a reduction in VAT of 23% and 13%), the compensation mechanism by which the ISP is reduced in relation to the additional VAT revenue and the suspension of the carbon tax update", recalls the ACP.
The average daily prices, released by DGEG, "are calculated based on prices communicated by gas stations, weighted by the quantities sold in the last known period, incorporating discounts offered at gas stations such as fleet cards and others." They are based on information from 2,959 active gas stations.
