The chart published by Visual Capitalist shows the countries with the most educated populations, measuring the proportion and absolute number of adults between the ages of 25 and 64 with a university degree. In Portugal, 29.4% of the working population—about 2 million—has a university degree.
Europe stands out, with six of the ten countries having the highest percentage of adults with advanced education. According to a 2023 CBRE Research study, Ireland tops the list, with 52% of its adult population holding a university degree, followed by Switzerland (46%) and Singapore (45%).

On the other hand, the US has about 40% of its population educated, totalling over 78 million people with higher education.
In contrast, India and China, despite being the most populous countries in the world, have the lowest percentages of adults with higher education in this study. Nevertheless, due to their large populations, they have the highest absolute number of bachelor's degrees globally.
It's the quality not the quantity .
