For the fourth consecutive month, the price of diesel has fallen in the Azores, although in July it may not have a major impact on the price paid by consumers, since the reduction is less than one cent per litre.
The price of butane gas, which has also fallen for four months, has fallen by 1.2 cents per kilo, starting on 1 July.
The Azorean government justifies the adjustment in the maximum retail price with the “recent variations in the international market for reference prices of petroleum and energy products”.
In July, diesel in the Azores will cost 1.398 euros per litre, 0.4 cents less than in the previous month. Between May and June, the fuel had fallen by 10.4 cents per litre. After a slight drop (0.6 cents) in June, the price of gasoline in the Azores stabilized again, remaining at 1.574 euros per litre in July.
The price of coloured diesel for agriculture and fishing, defined in another order, also fell by 0.4 cents per litre in July. Coloured and marked diesel consumed in agriculture will now cost €1.027 per litre, while the price of coloured and marked diesel consumed in fishing is set at €0.837 per litre. The price of butane gas, which began to be updated monthly in January, with a new calculation formula, fell by 1.2 cents per kilo in July (1.3 in the case of bulk diesel). After a sharp increase at the beginning of the year, the price of butane gas fell by 26.4 cents per kilo between May and June.
The maximum prices of petroleum and energy products in the Azores are "changed on the 1st of each month and in amounts equivalent to the variation in the monthly European Price (PE) value".
