In a statement, CP reported that "no change to commercial service on the Douro Line is planned, particularly between Marco de Canaveses and Régua," refuting information reported in the media.
The company admitted that it will return some UTD 592 series railcars, currently operating regional services on the Douro Line, to its counterpart, Renfe, as contractual usage limits are being reached.
However, it assured that "this will not result in the cancellation of any trains."
CP also stated that it adjusts, "when necessary, the allocation of available rolling stock to better serve its customers, responding to their mobility needs."
"The ongoing electrification of some of the country's lines and the arrival of new trains will allow the reallocation of diesel units, among others, to the Douro Line," concluded Comboios de Portugal.
