The fire that broke out early this afternoon forced the closure of Highway 1 (A1) in the south-north direction between Leiria and Pombal, a source from the National Republican Guard told Lusa.

According to the same source, the shutdown occurred around 1:45 PM, and the alternative to travel on the A1 between Leiria and Pombal is the complementary route 2 (IC2).
The forest fire occurred at 12:53 PM in the town of Pinheirinho, in the municipality of Pombal, a source from the Leiria Subregional Emergency and Civil Protection Command told Lusa.
At 2:00 PM, 64 personnel were on site, supported by 15 vehicles and two aircraft.
