As usual, today and Tuesday, 22nd July, are quieter days, with three free concerts: Umafricana, a project by Portuguese Guinean Sandra Baldé, today at 7 pm; Susobrino (Bolivia/Belgium) and Queralt Lahoz (Catalonia - Spain), on Tuesday, at 7 pm and 11 pm, respectively.

In the auditorium of the Sines Arts Centre, both at 10:00 pm, Mick Strauss's "In the Dark" (USA/France) will perform today, and Sara Curruchich (Guatemala) will perform on Tuesday. Tickets are required for both.

Starting Wednesday, 23rd July, and running through Saturday, 26 July, the number of concerts will increase to about a dozen daily.

Youssou N'Dour (Senegal), Julieta Venegas (Mexico), Rokia Traoré (Mali), Orchestra Baobab (Senegal), and The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices (Bulgaria) are some of the highlights of the 25th edition of the FMM, which will also feature a tribute concert to Jamaican artist Max Romeo, who was scheduled to perform at the festival but died in April.

As usual, there will be a significant presence of Portuguese-speaking artists.

Portugal will be represented by Lena d'Água on the 23rd, at 6 pm, Capicua, on the 25th, at 10:15 pm, Miss Universe, on the 26th, at 6 pm, and Bateu Matou, in the early hours of the 27th, at 3:30 am.


Bonga will represent Angola on the 23rd, at 12:45 am, and Roberto Chitsonzo will represent Mozambique on the 26th at 4:30 pm.

Brazil will be represented by Gabriele Leite on the 24th, at 4:30 pm, Bia Ferreira on the 24th, at 10:15 pm, Luca Argel on the 25th, at 6 pm, and Nação Zumbi on the 25th, at 12:45 am.

Fábio Ramos (24th, at 6:00 PM), Fidjus Codé di Dona, 25th, at 5 am, and Fidju Kitxora will bring the rhythms of Cape Verde, 26th, at 2:15 am.

Continuing the motto "Music with a spirit of adventure," this edition of the FMM, a festival organized by the Sines City Council, features artists from 34 countries, with debuts from Bolivia, Gabon, Guatemala, Jordan, Indonesia (Java), and Somaliland (a state seeking recognition).

In addition to music, the festival offers several parallel activities, including debates.

The program also includes exhibitions, book launches, and even a Nepalese cooking workshop, which is already sold out.

For children and families, there are performances, workshops (one dedicated to tambourine and traditional singing), storytelling sessions, and scientific outreach activities about the marine world.

Maria Mazzotta, Bia Ferreira, Fidjus Codé di Dona, and Roberto Chitsonzo will host music workshops for children aged six to twelve on the 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 6th, respectively, at 11 am.

The Músicas do Mundo Festival won the 2017 EFFE Award from the European Festivals Association and, between 2016 and 2024, 14 Iberian Festival Awards, eight Iberian and six nationals.
