According to estimates from Childcare Aware, a married couple earning a medium income in their state spends 10 percent of their earnings on childcare, while for single parents, it’s around 35 percent.


In 45 states, including D.C, childcare for two kids costs more than a mortgage, and in 49 states (with D.C) it costs more than rent.
