"At the beginning of this year, the basic food basket cost 4.49 euros less (down 1.90%). In January 2022, when DECO PROTeste began this analysis, consumers spent 52.95 euros less (down 28.21%) to buy exactly the same food products," the statement read.

DECO PROTeste highlights that the price of tomatoes increased 36 cents per kilo (up 18%) in just one week.

"A kilo of this vegetable can now cost 2.45 euros. Sweet tomatoes have not been so expensive since May 7th, when they cost 2.57 euros per kilo," the statement reads.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that, in the last week, between July 30th and August 6th, besides tomatoes, the products whose prices increased the most were onions (up 13%), tuna in vegetable oil (up 10%), and Golden apples (up 9%).

On the other hand, if we compare this week's prices with those of the first week of the year, on January 1st, 2025, the largest percentage price increases were seen in products such as eggs (up 28%), Gala apples (up 24%), and oranges (up 22%).

Furthermore, since DECO PROteste began this analysis on January 5th, 2022, the largest percentage price increases were for beef for cooking (up 97%), eggs (up 81%), and oranges (up 68%).
