The average consumption of beer in Czechia has dropped to 126 litres per person, announced in a study by the Czech Beer and Malt Association, toppling the nation’s title as beer capital of the world.

This decline has been attributed to a slight increase in a tax on draft beer, which went from 15 percent to 21 percent this year.
The Czech beer market is home to 550 breweries in the country, with their four biggest being owned by Japanese alcohol empire Ushi, and accounting for 60 percent of all Czech beer production.
