Once a rare sight in Germany’s farmlands, larks now thrive in astonishing numbers at a Brandenburg solar park, where biologists have recorded unprecedented breeding densities.

The fenced-in PV site has evolved into a vibrant refuge for endangered birds, providing far richer habitats than surrounding intensively farmed fields, with sheep-grazed vegetation and reduced human activity.
Spanning 164 hectares, the park was found to host 21 to 47 breeding pairs per 10 hectares on average, a total of 178 spots within and around it.
