The massive rise in the Dubai chocolate trend prompted a record year for the pistachio industry, with the 2023-24 cycle producing 1.49 billion pounds of the nut, and “pistachio chocolate” searches on Yelp increasing 8,942 percent year over year.

However, pistachios have a recurring pattern of economic expansion followed by contraction in the market.
As the 2024-25 season is expected to only produce 1.1 billion pounds, pistachio halves and pieces are going for $10.50 per pound, which is 17 percent more expensive than a year ago.
