As for preferences, it seems that the Portuguese have a strong desire for sun and beach, highlighting these destinations in 74% of their searches, compared to 26% who prefer inland destinations.
Among the 35 most searched cities for July 2024, the Algarve has seven cities on this list, and it is a city in the Algarve that is the second most searched in national terms.
The data reveals that, in addition to the Algarve, Centre, North and Lisbon, other regions such as Alentejo, Madeira and the Azores were also highly sought after for accommodation during the period from July 1 to 31.
“The Portuguese really want to go on holiday, which shows that demand for accommodation during the month of July 2025 increased by 8% compared to the same month last year. It seems that we continue to want destinations with sand, sun and sea, with 74% of Portuguese tourists looking for beach destinations rather than inland destinations”, said Ignazio Ciarmoli, Marketing Director at Jetcost, quoted by TNEWS.
