The company’s holistic approach integrates environmental stewardship in vineyard management, winemaking, packaging, and community engagement.
In the vineyards, Taylor’s employs its award-winning Sustainable Vineyard Model. Key initiatives include dry farming (relying solely on rainfall), soil protection, composting, and biodiversity promotion. By aligning grape varieties with soil profiles and using a unique terracing system, they enhance wine quality while enabling mechanical weed removal. Pest control combines certified eco-friendly products with natural predator management, reducing chemical use. Weather data is used to guide vineyard treatments, ensuring efficiency and minimal intervention.
In the winery, measures to reduce environmental impact include installing photovoltaic panels for solar energy and a CIP (cleaning-in-place) system to lower detergent use. Energy consumption and emissions are closely monitored, with emphasis on recycling and waste reduction. Packaging uses lightweight glass, FSC-certified materials, and natural cork, which contributes to carbon sequestration.
Taylor’s holds the National Reference for Sustainability Certification in the Wine Sector, reinforcing its commitment to transparent, verifiable sustainable practices. The company also plays a leadership role in the Porto Protocol, a global wine community launched in 2018 that unites over 300 members from 25+ countries to collaborate on climate solutions.
Beyond environmental efforts, Taylor’s embraces social responsibility through charitable work, community support, and employment promotion.
Through continued R&D, Taylor’s aims to address the long-term effects of climate change on viticulture. Guided by a clear, future-oriented vision, The Fladgate Partnership is dedicated to environmentally responsible wine production that sustains both land and people for generations to come.
