The partnership includes an awareness campaign for hosts and initiatives that decentralise tourist flows across the city's various territories.
According to the company, Airbnb will provide Porto City Council with a digital portal that allows the city government to monitor the process of accommodations advertised on the platform. Through this tool, the city will be able to request the immediate removal of listings that do not comply with local regulations, reinforcing the fight against unregistered accommodation. The measure is part of the strategic partnership between Airbnb and the City Council, aligned with the Future Strategy for the Sustainability of Porto Destination, which promotes authentic, balanced, and resilient tourism, at the service of the territory, communities, and urban quality of life.
The agreement also includes the launch of an awareness campaign aimed at local hosts, as well as the promotion of tourist experiences that encourage the decentralization of visitors throughout the city. Together, these initiatives will help hosts comply with the new rules for Local Accommodation - including the mandatory proof of civil liability insurance - and will contribute to more responsible and sustainable tourism in Porto.
