Urban Korfball is a dynamic new format designed for city life - played in parks, squares, and urban courtyards. With smaller teams, shorter games, and simplified setup, it brings korfball to the streets while preserving its core values of mixed-gender play, inclusivity, and teamwork.

Lisbon Unlocked 2025 will feature three action-packed days:
Day 1 – Learn the Game: Workshops and practice sessions for players, coaches, and referees.
Day 2 – National Showdown: Top national teams compete for the first Urban Korfball title.
Day 3 – Mixed Teams Challenge: Open registration for individuals to join international mixed teams.

“This event marks the beginning of a new discipline within korfball,” said IKF Head of Digital and Media, Dean Woods. “Urban Korfball is about accessibility, creativity, and community. Lisbon Unlocked is our invitation to the world to reimagine how and where korfball can be played.”

Joana Faria, IKF CEO said: "This unique event will showcase a new, urban version of korfball – dynamic, inclusive, fast-paced and made for urban spaces. It will be an opportunity to learn, compete, and connect in a completely different way."

National federations have received registration details, with the deadline set for 27 July 2025. Individual player sign-ups will open soon via the official Urban Korfball Instagram and IKF website.
