According to Pedro Chainho, Worten's Head of Supply Chain, this platform, dubbed Worten Orders Park, comes at a "challenging" time in logistics, with increased operational complexity, particularly with the management of multiple geographies, and will enable "efficiency gains and responsiveness."
Construction begins today and will take place over the next two years, in partnership with Merlin Properties, which owns and will be responsible for the construction. "All personnel and equipment are expected to be transferred to the new, larger center."
This new location will have 350 people working regularly upon completion, a number that will be higher during peak demand, particularly during summer, Christmas, and Black Friday.
Furthermore, the creation of different types of jobs is also planned, particularly related to the technological aspects of this new platform.
"There are a lot of engineers here, many engineering areas, and many process flow areas, which also makes the place more attractive to work because it becomes a different, less monotonous logistics system, and therefore creates value for the type of employees who will work at Orders Park," noted Pedro Chainho.
Investments in technological innovation are also planned, particularly with a 'sorter,' a machine that allows for automated order sorting and separation, which can handle up to 10,000 orders per hour, with the goal of faster delivery.
The company aims to allow customers to order "as late as possible," meaning they can order by midnight and receive the item the next day at home, at the office, or wherever, he added.
They are thus "investing heavily here," the manager noted, although without disclosing figures, assuring, however, that "there will be significant investment that will be a differentiating factor."
This platform will supply all retail stores in the country, as well as Spain, both mainland and in the Canary Islands, and the international business in the regions where the brand already operates.
Regarding sustainability, "a renewable solar structure will be installed to minimize the impact of logistics operations, water reuse systems, and also improve the thermal comfort of teams."
Worten Orders Park will have 115,000 square metres, which will be occupied by Worten in phases, with the infrastructure's inauguration scheduled for 2028.
