The new BdP headquarters in the capital are expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

The “symbolic ceremony of laying the first stone” of the future BdP headquarters was held on June 24, during an event that was led by Mário Centeno, the current governor of the central bank.

“Representatives of the employees and the various structures of the bank, as well as the board of directors of Fidelidade, the current owner of the property, were also present”.

This ceremony took place following the signing on 2 May by the Bank of Portugal and Fidelidade of the promissory purchase and sale agreement for the building, which will have around 32 thousand square metres. The sale was reportedly closed for almost 192 million euros.

Once the excavation and peripheral containment works are completed, construction of the building will begin, with the start scheduled for the end of July. The new BdP headquarters should be completed by the last quarter of 2027 when the final transaction will be completed.

The new BdP headquarters will therefore concentrate all of its office services, currently spread across four locations in Lisbon, in a single building.
