The main objective of the “Summer without Sunburn” campaign is to raise awareness about the risks of sunburn, which is often underestimated, and to educate the population about the cumulative memory of the skin. The damage caused by sunburn, even from childhood, does not disappear over time and increases the risk of diseases such as melanoma and other types of skin cancer.

During the summer months, AOA volunteers will be at strategic points in the region, such as access to beaches and leisure areas, distributing information leaflets and offering free application of sunscreen.

They will also be doing interactive demonstrations with a camera provided by NIVEA, which allows you to see the presence (or absence) of UV protection on the skin, an impactful experience, especially for younger people.

You will find the mini caravan for this campaign at the following locations:

  • June 30 to July 15: Praceta Joaquim Agostinho (Quarteira beach promenade, next to Pizzaria Roma), weekdays, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm;
  • August 4 to 22: Cais da Porta Nova, in Faro, weekdays, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
