"The tracks at Fonte do Cuco station will undergo technical work, beginning at 9:30 PM on August 8th and ending at 1:00 AM on August 11th. Also on Rua da Lagoa, near Senhora da Hora station, similar work will take place from 9:30 PM on August 14th until 1:00 AM on August 17th," read a statement from Porto Metro.
According to the text sent to newsrooms, "during these periods, service from these two stations will be suspended," as "all trips departing from Estádio do Dragão station, from August 8th to 11th, will terminate at Senhora da Hora station, while those departing from Póvoa de Varzim (Red Line) and the Airport (Violet Line) will terminate at Custóias station."
"On the Green Line, the route from ISMAI terminates at Cândido dos Reis station," says Porto Metro.
As for the weekend between August 14th and 17th, "services from Estádio do Dragão will also terminate at Senhora da Hora, and on the Blue Line, trips from Senhor de Matosinhos station will terminate at Vasco da Gama station," and "services on the Red Line, from Póvoa de Varzim, and on the Green Line, from ISMAI, will both terminate at Fonte do Cuco station."
"An alternative transportation service, provided by STCP [Porto Public Transport Company]," is already scheduled.
"On the 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th, buses from this operator will run through the Cândido dos Reis, Cuiabá, and Senhora da Hora stations with frequencies of 30 minutes (between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM), 15 minutes (between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM), and again every 30 minutes (between 8:00 PM and 1:00 AM)," says Metro do Porto.
From August 14th to 17th, "12-minute frequencies are guaranteed, with service near the Fonte do Cuco, Vasco da Gama, and Senhora da Hora stations."
"All customers of this alternative STCP service must also validate their Andante tickets inside the metro stations," says Metro do Porto, further emphasizing that on the metro and buses, "animals (except assistance dogs) cannot be transported unless they are properly secured in an appropriate container (bag, backpack, or other)" and, on buses, "bicycles are not permitted," and scooters must also be closed.
According to Metro do Porto, "the dates chosen for the work took into account the much lower demand for the metro, which typically occurs in the first half of August and even less so on weekends."
The intervention aims to "replace the switches (equipment that allows for changes in direction), both at Fonte do Cuco and Rua da Lagoa," in the area where the Red (B) and Green (C) lines meet.
