Overall, there has been an over 11% increase in domestic travel compared to this time last year.

Connections between Lisbon and Porto increased by 22%, totalling 152 upcoming trips (76 each way). Between Lisbon and Coimbra, there are 70 daily trips, showing a 25% increase compared to 2024. Connections from Porto to Braga and Guimarães increased by 13%, with 88 daily trips.

Regarding international connections, there has been a 47% rise in connections to France and a 38% rise in trips to Spain. Daily, there are 16 buses between Lisbon and Madrid, 11 more than last year. Between Faro and Seville, there was a 30% travel increase. International connections with northern Spain have also been strengthened during this break to accommodate the growing demand for travel to this region.

According to FlixBus’ Operation Director in Portugal, Tiago Cavaco Alves, travelling by bus has gradually become a popular alternative to travelling by car or by plane, not only for Portuguese citizens but for millions of tourists who visit us during this time of year. “The so-called express buses are complementary to trains and essential to guarantee a multimodal and efficient public transport network”, he argues.

By offering direct connections to regions not easily accessible by other means of transportation, FlixBus plays an essential role in territorial cohesion and promoting sustainable mobility. The increased supply this Easter reflects the vital role of this mode of transport in Portugal’s mobility landscape, as it connects people to opportunities, supports domestic tourism, and helps reduce reliance on private vehicles. Tiago Alves continues, “This is why we continue to invest in an easily accessible, flexible and environmentally sustainable transportation method which complies with the necessities of passengers today”.
