This unique experience offers participants the chance to learn about the region’s prehistoric past, where traces of ancient life have been preserved in the cliffs and rock formations along the coastline.

Organised as part of the “Domingar nos Museus” (Sunday at the Museums) municipal initiative, the event aims to combine leisure with science, encouraging public engagement with local natural heritage. Two sessions will be available on the day – one beginning at 10am and the second at 3pm – to allow more people to take part.

The walk will be led by specialists Anabela Quintela Veiga from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and Bruno Camilo da Silva from the Natural History Society. Their expert guidance will help participants interpret the geological and paleontological features of the area, including fossilised remains and preserved dinosaur tracks that date back millions of years.

Participation is free, but prior registration is required. Those interested should book their place by emailing museudeleiria@cm-leiria.pt or calling 244 839 677.

This is an excellent opportunity for families, students, and nature enthusiasts to experience science in an outdoor setting while deepening their appreciation for the region’s rich natural history.
