In a joint statement, the Public Security Police (PSP), the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR) and the National Republican Guard (GNR) revealed that they inspected 5,448,726 vehicles between May 14 and 20.

Of the 815 infractions relating to improper use of cell phones while driving, 797 were recorded on the mainland and 18 in the Autonomous Regions, with 654 detected by the GNR and 161 by the PSP.

As part of this campaign, 5,387,981 vehicles were automatically checked by radar, 145,011 by security forces (GNR and PSP) and 5,242,970 by SINCRO – National Speed ​​Control System, under the responsibility of ANSR.

Security forces inspected 60,745 vehicles and drivers in person.

Throughout the ANSR, GNR and PSP campaign, 2,723 accidents were recorded, resulting in seven fatalities, 54 serious injuries and 854 minor injuries.

The accidents with fatal victims occurred in the districts of Aveiro, Santarém and Setúbal.

According to the note, this is the fifth of 11 awareness and inspection campaigns planned within the scope of the 2025 National Inspection Plan (PNF).

By the end of the year, six more campaigns will be carried out, one per month, with awareness and inspection actions.
