I met the owner, who is incredibly friendly and took the time to explain everything about her shop. Brigitte Keul was born in Romania, spent most of her life in Germany, and moved to the Algarve two years ago. A year ago, she decided to open this charming little shop, inspired by the time she spent making beaded bracelets and other crafts at home with her daughter.

Family project

But it is not just a mother-daughter project—Brigitte’s mother and grandmother are also involved. Although they still live in Germany, they love to create, especially crochet items, and regularly send their handmade goods to Brigitte, who then sells them in the shop.

You could say it is a true four-generation shop, where everything is handmade by the women in Brigitte’s family.

Led by the passionate owner, a wide variety of workshops are organised regularly, from tote bag painting and jewellery making to seasonal decor. During the summer season, families can book a workshop Tuesday through Friday, making it a perfect holiday activity for creative kids. Currently, you can choose from creating a macrame keychain, rock painting, dreamcatcher or bracelet making, leather jewellery workshop and much more.

The shop is located on João José Gomes Street in Silves. It’s open Tuesday to Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and on Saturday mornings. During July and August, they switch to summer hours, opening from 10 AM to 4 PM in July and from 10 AM to 3 PM in August.
