The Summit comes amid the escalation of the trade war between the United States and China, the world’s two largest economies, aiming to bring the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States closer to the Asian country.

This will be Lula’s second official trip to China during his third term, following his attendance at Russia’s Victory Day celebrations on 9 May, marking the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s triumph in World War II.
